ZINE INFORMATION
Hello, and welcome!
We'd like you to know that the gist of this zine project, titled GEN : monarch, is essentially a fan-made Stray Kids comeback zine! The theme is centered around royal escapism and ethereal settings! GEN stands for “Generation” and Monarch simply refers to the butterfly and royalty! More information on this will be given once the artists have been accepted!
How will the project work? We'll be creating a zine with a comeback worth of content! From made-up tracklists and Spotify mood playlists, to photobooks, photocards, stylings, etc., all done by Staytists! We'll basically be giving Stray Kids a comeback that we probably won't be seeing for a while.
This zine is only made for the fun of it, and not an official Stray Kids event celebration!
After application period is over, we will choose which applicants are accepted. Once those applicants are chosen, we will message them with another form. This form will now determine which roles, members, and "items" they would like to draw for. We will also send out necessary links for the Discord. There is also an FAQ section to answer more questions and concerns! You may access the FAQ by clicking the "Main Menu" button at the end of this page.

Information on Roles
Member-assigned Staytists: Staytists assigned to draw solo content for a member
Unit Pairing Staytists: Staytists assigned to draw the designated units
Racha-assigned Staytists: Staytists assigned to draw the RACHA units
OT8-assigned Staytists: Assigned to draw the whole group in one canvas
Stay Writers/Poets: This role is still undergoing discussion and isn't final yet, but the gist of this would be for Stays to write a very short story or poem in place of the lyric pages in an album. Once again, this is still a tentative role.
Also, take note that there are roles for the album content (photobook pages, teaser/concept photos, photocards, posters, etc.)
From what we have counted, we will need a minimum of 84 Staytists, but this could lessen if some are willing to work on more than one piece. We'll determine this through the application form too.
Since there's only so much content to draw, we'll try our best to make the best out of everyone. Not all Staytists are going to be able to join, and as much as we want everyone to be able to contribute, we can't accept everyone. But don't let it discourage you!

About the Zine
Q: What is this zine?
This zine is a fan-made comeback by a group of Staytists, with the fan-made album “GEN : Monarch”. This particular zine is like an actual Stray Kids comeback! New sets, styling, and album, everything!
Q: What is the theme? Why GEN : Monarch?
This zine is gonna be centered around royal escapism and ethereal settings! We figured to make this the theme because it’s something SKZ wouldn’t likely do, but most of us really want. GEN stands for “Generation” and Monarch simply refers to the butterfly and royalty!
Q: For the overall concept like background, props, member outfits, etc., would be there a brainstorming process again after the team fixed?
Of course! We’ve already made the references of the members and have given the ideas for the set, but we really would encourage the picked artists to also share their ideas to the table and potentially help us refine what we came up with.
Q: What’s the basic structure of the album zine’s whole storyline?
The Butterfly Effect; “A butterfly flapping it’s wings can form the biggest tornadoes”, the story centers around the boys’ choices and the large consequences it can have on them. They’re free, they now know what to do with their passion. They already found themselves, at least they think they all did. Too much freedom could just lead them back to square one. A simple flap of a butterfly’s wings can change everything for better or for worse.
Q: Will the zine be available for physical or only digital?
Unfortunately, the zine will only be available digitally as of now. It will be made available through Gumroad. However, the mods are in discussion if parts of the zine will be made available physically (example: just the photobook or just the photocards).
Artists and Applicants
Q: Will the accepted artists work on this for free or are they getting paid?
This zine is only a voluntary project! Down to the release, we’re thinking of making the zine free with an option for willing individuals to donate any amount. The proceeds for donations will be donated to either charity projects or actual SKZ comeback projects like the streaming donations. Donations to charity will be prioritized, given that we find a suitable and legitimate charity organization or project.
Also, for clarification purposes, if we do garner sales from pushing through with physical items from this zine, proceeds will still go to charity or official comeback projects!
Submissions and Dates
Q: Is there a timeline or schedule for this zine?
Yes, you can find the details for the timeline and schedule at the "Schedules" link found in the Main Menu! Access to the Main Menu is below.
Q: Can I upload previews of my entry in my Twitter account?
Yes, but to refrain from spoilers, please make it subtle. Don’t post the full illustration, and don’t post full version of wips.
Q: Will I get kicked out if I’m slow with my entry?
A: We will be doing evaluations and ask for updates from Staytists. We’ll understand whatever condition you’ll be in and we can wait for you, as long as you are still working on it and you give out updates, even just a word will do.
Q: I finished my entry! Where will I submit it?
You can submit it by these steps:
1.) Open the Google Drive link
2.) Find the folder that you’re assigned to
3.) Upload your submission. Must be in PNG format.

If you rushed or managed to complete your piece with the original deadline in mind (the Feb. 03 deadline) you are encouraged to submit it as early as then. Early submissions are allowed. Otherwise, feel free to make use of the extended Feb. 10 deadline. If you have submitted your work or are nearly done, you are also allowed to change or fix things until the Feb. 10 deadline.
Schedules are subject to change depending on the situation or state of things. Schedules and dates are also subject to change if the mods choose to push through with making physical aspects for this zine. Also, we are willing to adjust accordingly. But for now, this is the timeline set for the digital zine and all its pieces! Please keep this in mind!
